Blocky

Unblocked by Apple Health

Health has it. The apps are back.

Block apps until Apple Health shows you worked out. Blocky reads Apple Health, so the proof is whatever already records your day: an Apple Watch, a Garmin, Strava, the gym's app or the phone in your pocket. When Health has the workout, the apps you pick unblock on their own.

Nothing to log, nothing to fake

You don't open Blocky and you don't type anything. A workout can't be ticked off by hand, and a photo or a rep count on camera isn't the test. Apple Health is. The moment the workout lands there, the apps are back, and until it does, opening one shows what it's waiting for and how far there is to go.

What it can read

Whatever already records it

The Apple Watch's Workout app, Strava, Garmin, Nike Run Club, the spin studio's app: if it writes to Apple Health, it counts. Record the workout the way you already do, and Blocky reads it from there. A lift and a class count the same way a run does, by the minutes Health has.

Halfway unblocks some. Done unblocks the rest.

Add a milestone on the way to the goal and pick which apps it unblocks. Fifteen minutes unblocks Messages and YouTube. Thirty unblocks Instagram and TikTok. Each habit holds its own apps, so the feed can wait for the workout while another app waits for the steps. Phone, Settings and any apps you choose are never blocked.

What a friend sees

That a habit is done, and nothing else: not the minutes, not the steps, not the night. What Blocky keeps and why is in the privacy policy.

Questions

Which apps count?

Any app that writes workouts to Apple Health: the Apple Watch's Workout app, Strava, Garmin, Nike Run Club and most gym apps. Check in Health that the app is allowed to write workouts.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Your iPhone counts steps, distance and flights on its own, and a workout from Strava or any other app on your phone counts once it's in Apple Health. The Activity rings, stand hours and active calories come from a watch.

Can I count only some kinds of workout?

Yes. Workout minutes and One workout count every kind, or only the ones you pick: tennis, rowing, paddle sports, strength.

Can I tick a workout off by hand?

No. Apple Health has to show it. That's the point: nothing is taken on trust, and there's no button to argue with.

Why can't Blocky see my workouts?

Check iOS Settings, then Health, then Data Access & Devices, then Blocky. Permission is granted per category, so steps can be on while workouts are off. Then check that the app recording the workout is allowed to write it to Health.

Which apps can it block?

Any app on your iPhone: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, a game, a delivery app. Phone and Settings are never blocked, and neither is any app you add to the never-blocked list, like Maps or Messages.

Is there an Android version?

No. Blocky reads Apple Health, so it's iPhone only, on iOS 26.5 or later.
