Blocky

Mission

The phone was built to use you. We're turning it into the most powerful thing you'll own for becoming who you want to be.

Vision

Every device works for the person holding it.

The manifesto

They spent trillions of dollars making your phone impossible to put down. It worked. Your attention is your life, and where it goes, you go.

Every morning, billions of people give their first hour, their clearest hour, to a feed. The industry behind it exists to make the easy thing easier, and it's very good at it. Comfort is on tap. Distraction is free. And a little more of you goes somewhere it never meant to.

Most people are losing, and it isn't because they're weak. It's because they're facing the most sophisticated persuasion machine ever built, alone, at 6 a.m., before they've had a glass of water.

The tools we've been handed don't help. A habit tracker watches you fail and writes it down. A blocker puts up a wall with an “ignore” button at the bottom, and at 8 p.m. everyone taps it. Both ask you for willpower at the one hour you have none left.

Blocky, arms folded.

They have thousands of engineers. You have Blocky.

Blocky doesn't fight the pull of your phone. It uses it. The apps you reach for all day open when the thing you said you'd do is done, and your phone knows when it's done: the run lands in Apple Health and the block lifts on its own. Halfway there opens some of it. Done opens all of it. The reach that used to cost you an hour is now the thing that gets you off the couch.

You set the terms when you're clear, and Blocky holds them when you're not. No bending, no flattery, no trading the person you're becoming for one more scroll. Blocky isn't nice to you. This is love, which is harder. Nice is what you give someone you've given up on.

Bad days happen. You can always open the door anyway. It costs a gem, and it's written down, and that's the difference between a limit and a decision. A rest you paid for in days you showed up is honored. Miss a day and it's one day, not a verdict.

We will never sell your attention. Not to an advertiser, not to anyone. They get paid when you can't put it down. We get paid when you do the thing first.

You don't do this alone. Discipline has always spread through people: the friend who runs, the family that trains together, the crew that won't let you skip. A friend can cover the day you missed. Every day you do all of it is proof the hard thing is possible.

Children learn attention by watching ours. They see where we look first in the morning. Imagine a family where the first hour belongs to the people in the room. Where kids earn the game by playing outside. Where friends compete on who showed up, not who posted.

It starts with the phone, because that's where the trillions went. It doesn't end there. The TV, the console, the watch, the car: every screen built to hold you can be turned to work for you.

That's what we're building. Not a blocker. The most powerful thing you own, finally on your side.
