Privacy Policy

The short version. Ahonui keeps what you log so it survives a new phone. We do not sell your data, advertise with it, or train models on it. Friends see only what you agree to share. You can delete your account at any time.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address, username, display name and sign-in credentials.
- What you log or set. Meals and their photos, fasts, water, weigh-ins, workouts, sleep, mindful minutes, movement, how many medication doses were due and logged, your goals, streaks and gems, and the blocks you passed.
- Apple Health, if you allow it. Workouts and their distance, sleep, water, body weight, mindful minutes, movement readings including wheelchair pushes, and for a medication habit when each dose was due and whether it was taken or skipped. A medication's name and schedule stay on your phone. Ahonui writes water back to Health.
- How you use the app. The screens you reach, where you tap, crashes, your subscription plan and status, and a recording of your screens. The recording can show your entries and readings, including water, weight, sleep, workouts, and meals and their photos. Your sign-in code, medication details and photo library are masked. This is linked to your account identifier, email address, username and display name.
- Which ad brought you. When the app first opens, and each time it comes to the front, it tells our attribution provider the app was opened, with your device type, iOS version and IP address, so we can learn which of our ads lead to installs. It is not linked to your account. The app never asks to track you and does not read your phone's advertising identifier. Apple may also tell the ad network, and us, that an ad led to an install, without saying who installed. In the weeks after, the app tells Apple whether a free week or a subscription followed, and Apple may pass that on the same way: which plan, its price band, and nothing about who you are.
- This website. The pages you open, how you arrived, your browser, device and IP address, what you click, and a recording of the screen with anything typed masked. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland the cookie and recording wait until you allow them. The Cookies link at the foot of every page changes your answer.
We do not learn which apps you block. Screen Time gives Ahonui an opaque token for each one, not a name.
Who processes it
Our providers act for us under data processing agreements, in the United States: a backend host (your account and what you log), a sign-in provider (your email address, name and credentials), an analytics provider (app and website usage, as above), an attribution provider (app opens, as above), a licensed nutrition database (the words you type in food search, not who typed them), and Apple (Sign in with Apple and the App Store, under Apple's own policy). Videos on this site are YouTube's and load only when you press play.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law.
What you choose to share
- Friends see which habits you met, your streaks and the days you swept. Not your readings, meals, photos or anything about a medication.
- Quests show members a name, a total and a place. A movement quest shows each member's movement for each day of the quest. On a public quest a stranger sees a first name and last initial.
- Connected tools you approve can read your health data, habits and quests, and log or change them on your instruction. They act for you under their own privacy policies. Disconnect one under Settings, then Connected tools.
Legal basis and transfers
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our contract with you for the account and the app, our legitimate interest in knowing how the app and this website are used, and your explicit consent for health data and for sharing with friends. Your data is processed in the United States under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
Day-to-day entries are kept for 400 days. Goals, streaks and gems are kept while your account exists, and messages from friends for 30 days. Deleting your account removes these, and removes them from routine backups within 30 days.
Your choices
- Delete your account under Settings, then Delete account.
- Turn off Apple Health or Screen Time access in iOS Settings or Ahonui's settings.
- Access, correct, export, restrict or object, where your law gives you those rights, by writing to privacy@ahonui.app. We respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
The rest
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Ahonui is not for children under 13. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Questions go to privacy@ahonui.app.
