Blocky

For doing it together

Most minutes wins. Loser buys lunch.

A fitness challenge with friends where the apps stay blocked. Start a quest, invite the people you train with, and race for the most minutes. Everyone's minutes come from their own watch or phone, and everyone's apps wait for their own workout.

Race, or do it together

Race a dozen friends for a month: most minutes wins, and the leaderboard ranks only the people who joined. Or do one habit together for a week, a day at a time. Put the stakes in the quest's description, the loser buys lunch or no soda either, and add a badge for whoever earns it.

Any habit, any length

Movement, water, fasting, sleep, a weigh-in, meditation, or every habit at once, where a day counts only when every habit is done. A quest can be about one kind of workout, like 30 minutes of tennis a day. It runs for one day or a whole year, with up to 100 people. Only movement is counted in minutes; the rest count the days the goal was met.

Nobody can round up

The minutes come from Apple Health, recorded by each person's own Apple Watch, Garmin, Strava or gym app. Nobody types a number in. And because each person's habits keep their own apps blocked until the workout's done, the feed waits for the session, for everyone.

When it ends

A quest ends at midnight on its last day in each person's own time zone, so nobody loses an evening to someone else's clock. The countdown runs to your midnight. Near the end, Blocky tells each person where they stand and the gap they can still close, at most twice a quest, and not at all once the standings can't change.

What friends see

The people in the quest see your total. Outside it, a friend sees that you've done three of five habits, and nothing else. Friends can send a word that shows up on your block right when you're looking at it, and a streak cover for a day you fell short. See the quests running now.

Questions

Does everyone need Blocky?

Yes, each on their own iPhone. The first seven days are free. An invite brings a friend into the quest, not a free subscription.

How are the minutes counted?

From each person's own Apple Health: workouts from a watch, Strava or a gym app. Nobody can type minutes in, so nobody can round up.

How many people can join?

Up to 100 in a quest, and a person can be in three quests at once.

How long can a quest run?

One day to a year, starting now or up to 60 days ahead. Two people can also keep a quest open with no end date.

Can we race on water or fasting?

No. Only movement is counted in minutes. A water, fasting, sleep or meditation quest counts the days each person meets the goal, so nobody is pushed to drink the most or fast the longest.

Does the quest block my apps?

Your habits do. The apps you pick for a habit stay blocked until it's done, quest or not, and the quest counts the same workout.

Who sees my numbers?

The people in the quest see your total on the leaderboard. Joining doesn't add anyone as a friend: people who aren't your friends see your first name, last initial and total, and nothing else.

Seven days free, then one plan

Everything, at either price: $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year. Apple takes the payment, so we never see your card, and you're not charged until the seven days are up. iPhone, iOS 26.5 or later.
