Blocky

For sleeping enough

Sleep first. Scroll second.

Block social media until you've slept. The feed is the last thing at night and the first thing in the morning, and no app has ever asked whether you slept. Blocky does. The apps you pick stay blocked until last night's sleep lands in Apple Health, then unblock on their own.

Nothing to log

Wear whatever already tracks your sleep: an Apple Watch, a ring, any band that writes to Apple Health. When the night lands there, your apps unblock. You don't open Blocky and you don't type anything, and nothing is taken on trust. Apple Health has to show it.

Set the hours you want. Seven is the usual pick, and it's yours to change. A six-hour night shows up as six hours, and the feed stays blocked until Apple Health shows the hours you set. Nothing to argue with, because there's nobody to argue with.

What a morning looks like

The alarm goes, you reach for the phone, and the feed is blocked. The block says what it's waiting for, seven hours of sleep, and how far short last night fell. Slept enough, and it's already unblocked before the alarm, with no switch to flip and nothing to decide. Phone, Settings and any apps you choose are never blocked.

Halfway unblocks some. Done unblocks the rest.

Add a milestone on the way to the goal and pick which apps it unblocks. Six hours unblocks Messages and the news. Seven unblocks Instagram and TikTok. You choose the order, and the phone fills back in as the night adds up.

Weekends are weekends

Set the habit for weekdays. On Saturday morning nothing is blocked and nothing is owed. Pause it for a week of travel and the paused days are skipped, so your streak keeps going. Only falling short ends it.

Your crew

Do the habit together with a friend for a week. They see that you've done it, and nothing else: never the hours. Friends can send you a word, a short note that shows up on your block right when you're looking at it. Miss a night and a friend can send you a streak cover. One night is one night, not a verdict.

A bad night

Need an app before you've slept? A gem unblocks it for 15 minutes. It costs you something, it's on the record, and your friends can see you spent it. That's the difference between a limit and a decision.

Questions

Do I need a watch?

Something has to track the night: an Apple Watch, a ring, a band, or an app that writes sleep to Apple Health. Sleep is the one habit the iPhone can't count on its own.

How many hours does it want?

The hours you set. Seven is the usual pick. A milestone can unblock some apps at fewer hours, like Messages and the news at six.

What if I slept less than the goal?

The apps you picked for the goal stay blocked that day. Apps on a milestone you did reach are unblocked.

Does it block apps at bedtime?

The sleep habit blocks in the morning, until last night is in Apple Health. To block apps for a set time, like the hour before bed, start a break. A strict break has no End button.

Which apps can it block?

Any app on your iPhone: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, a game, a delivery app. You pick them when you set up the habit. Phone and Settings are never blocked, and neither is any app you add to the never-blocked list, like Maps or Messages.

Can I get into a blocked app before I've slept enough?

Yes, with a gem: 15 minutes for one, 30 for two. You earn gems on a sweep, a day you do every habit, and every one you spend is in your history. A good night unblocks the apps for free, often before the alarm.

Is there an Android version?

No. Blocky is iPhone only, on iOS 26.5 or later. The first seven days are free, then $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year.

Seven days free, then one plan

Everything, at either price: $14.99 a month, or $99.99 a year. Apple takes the payment, so we never see your card, and you're not charged until the seven days are up. iPhone, iOS 26.5 or later.
