Blocky vs ยท Jomo
The Jomo alternative that checks the habit in Apple Health
Jomo blocks an app until you take an action, with a photo as proof. Blocky reads the run, the water or the sleep from Apple Health, with nothing to log.
If you're looking for a Jomo alternative, you've found the comparison that's closest to home. Jomo and Blocky both think an app should wait for something.
Jomo does a lot, and does it neatly. It blocks apps and websites at set times, after a limit, or, in its own words, until you take action, with "Walk 5000 steps" as the example on its home page. A Lock blocks an app all day and gives you a number of opens. A Routine lets a habit earn screen time: make your bed, get 15 minutes on Instagram, with AI photo proof that you did it. Strict Mode makes a rule you can't delete or bypass. It's on iPhone, iPad and Mac, journals each session, and the free plan has one session and one action or limit.
The difference is how it knows: a photo is something you take. A workout is something you did.
Health says you ran. Door's open.
A photo proves a moment
Jomo's proof is a picture you take, judged by a model. That works for a made bed. It's weaker for a run, a night's sleep or a fast, where the proof is in the day, not the frame. Jomo Plus adds an Apple Health integration, and its site doesn't say how far it goes.
That still ties the app to something, which is more than a timer does.
Blocky starts with the habit, and Apple Health is the proof
Exercise first, Instagram second.
Blocky is a habit tracker. You pick the habit you keep skipping, then the apps that wait for it. It stays blocked until Apple Health shows the habit is done, and nothing is logged by hand.
- Run with Strava or your watch. When your 30 minutes reach Apple Health, Instagram is unblocked.
- Steps, water, fasting, sleep, weigh-ins and meditation work the same way, from the same record.
- There's no photo and no judge. The workout is either there or it isn't.
- It bends for real life. Halfway there can unblock some apps early, and Phone, Settings and the apps you choose are never blocked.

Which one is for you
If you want one app for the phone and the Mac, with rules for websites, keywords and whole topics, Jomo has the range and we don't. If the habit you want proven is a made bed, a photo is the right proof.
If the habit is a run, a glass of water or a night's sleep, pick the app that reads it from Apple Health and asks you for nothing.
